love bites

A bouquet of roses I bought for my favorite person. Me.

Valentine's Day is a holiday whose only purpose is to make single people feel like crap. So there.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Children's Thoughts on Love

"I think you're supposed to get shot with an arrow or something,
but the rest of it isn't supposed to be so painful."
... Manuel, age 8

"Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good too."
...Greg, age 8

"No one is sure why it happens, but I heard it has something to do with
how you smell...that's why perfume and deodorant is so popular."
...Mae, age 9

"One way is to take the girl out to eat. Make sure it's something she likes to eat.
French fries usually works for me."
... Bart, age 9

"Don't do things like have smelly, green sneakers. You might get attention,
but attention ain't the same thing as love."
... Alonzo, age 9 "

When a person gets kissed for the first time, they fall down
and they don't get up for at least an hour."
... Wendy, age 8

"If you want to be loved by somebody who isn't
already in your family, it doesn't hurt to be beautiful."
...Anita, age 8

"I look at kissing like this: Kissing is fine if you like it,
but it's a free country and nobody should be forced to do it."
...Michael, age 8

"Don't say you love somebody and then change your mind ...
Love isn't like picking what movie you want to watch."
... Natalie, age 9

"I'm not rushing into being in love.
I'm finding fourth grade hard enough."
...Regina, age 10

"Love bites. And then it bites more."
...Lisa, age 38

because I've just found your blog you may have answered this question already in an earlier post. i found it while googling around "elizabeth gilbert" because i'd just finished reading 'eat pray love' and wanted to know more about her.

anyway, have you worked with any of louise hay's books? last night i watched the dvd of her new movie "you can heal your life". in the little i've read of your blog you say so many things that go hand-in-hand with the law of attraction --- it makes me wonder if you work with affirmations and the like.

either way, i'd love to read more about that, will spend some more time when i have more time checking out your blog ... and thank you !!

it's a pleasure to read your writing and the photos rock.

I just found your blog after doing a search on lyme disease.

I'm currently battling with it too and can relate to a lot that you've written. I'm in my 9 month of treatment right now and it feels like an endless battle.

I'm also a graphic artist. I guess I'm just trying to reach out to people who understand what i'm going through. If you're interested in talking - please feel free to email me. If not, I wish you a full recovery and good health. I know how awful this disease is - so I hope you get relief from it soon.
